2006 National Exhibition

Juror's Statement

What an honor it has been to judge the Georgia Watercolor Society's 27th National Exhibition this year.

The variety in technical approaches, subject matter, style, artistic emphasis and original thought was apparent throughout the selection process. Jurying this show was particularly challenging given the number of high quality submissions. It's never easy to select from so many strong paintings, but as a juror I concentrate on exceptional paintings which convey personal and creative directions, imagination and originality along with technical skill.

I would like to thank the entire GWS organization for the opportunity to judge this exhibition, hold a great workshop, and meet fantastic new friends. A special thanks goes to the Bowen Center for the Arts for hosting this show.

Congratulations to all involved with this fabulous exhibition!
