Cheryl D'Amato
Herbert Smart Fly-in
Cheryl paints in her condo with it's ninth floor balcony in Midtown Atlanta and has a studio-barn in Macon, Georgia. She has a BA in Art and Music Education and has taught in Maryland, Georgia, Louisiana and Italy.
Her training is primarily in realism and while D'Amato feels representational paintings are important and fun to create, she also likes delving into wild abstractions of color, shapes and mood. Many of her creations have been in advertising, from small magazine ads to gigantic architectural billboards. She's worked on detailed drawings for medical, scientific research and engineering cartoons. She also does murals and many walls have been filled with her colorful images.
D'Amato enjoys the mental workout and creative processes used to create fine art. She especially likes when the viewer enjoys the finished product as much as she does. She's won numerous awards and sold paintings in galleries from Macon to Atlanta, as well as New Orleans and North Carolina. Her media includes watercolors, oils, acrylics, black and white drawings and photography.
