The luminous quality of watercolor and the way colors mingle on the paper are what drew me to the medium. My favorite ways to use watercolors are by glazing (layering of colors) and by dropping color onto very wet paper, then spattering or dripping paint and salt to create texture in the original wash layer and I love color (of course!). I enjoy working in a "series" of similar subjects or ideas, in a realistic manner. My subject matter rarely involves an actual figure, but often implies the human element. "With few exceptions, when you see my work you know exactly what you are looking at".

Although watercolor has always fascinated me, it wasn't until 1996 that life gave me the opportunity to begin taking lessons in watercolor and attending workshops. In 2004 I began teaching watercolor in my home for private students, as well as teaching classes for local and regional organizations.

TEACHING VENUES: Dearborn Highland Arts Council, Dearborn County, IN; Dunham Recreation Center, Cincinnati, OH; Kennedy Heights Arts Center, Cincinnati, OH; The Franciscan Center of Oldenburg, IN; Life Learn at Mt. St. Joseph College, Cincinnati, OH.

Over the past several years my paintings have been accepted into and won awards in regional and national competitions, including Viewpoint 2002, Viewpoint 2007, Creative Catalyst Productions online ("Treasures" Winter 2007-8), Walnut Street Gallery ("Along for the Ride", a two-woman show), Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati, Middletown Fine Arts Center, Miamisburg Art Gallery and Kennedy Heights Arts Center (one woman show). A collection of my work hangs at the Hansen Center in Batesville, IN. An article about casein written by me was published (October, 2008) on the web-zine CreateBetterPaintings.com.

I also work in fluid acrylics and casein, both forms of water media, in addition to watercolors.

I reside in southeastern Indiana, about 30 miles from Cincinnati, Ohio which gives me the best of two worlds --- relaxed country living and big city amenities, such as The Taft Art Museum and the Cincinnati Art Museum.

CURRENT MEMBERSHIPS: Cincinnati Art Club, Greater Cincinnati Watercolor Society, Queen City Art Club, Kennedy Heights Arts Center (all in Cincinnati, OH); Southeastern Indiana Art Guild, Aurora, IN; Georgia Watercolor Society.
