I have a Masters degree in printmaking and recently began working in watercolor for the love of its immediate, delicate and profound nature. My current body of work is influenced through my experience in fine art conservation where I handle and restore the natural history prints of James J. Audubon, Mark Catesby, and John Gould. My images are comprised of observations and photographs of birds and horses in various environments. I live with my wife and daughter in the Grant Park neighborhood of Atlanta GA. for the last five years.
When working on these images I travel between various cultures and their use of the bird as a symbol. Many cultures view the bird as a supernatural link between the earth and the heavens.
Birds have been used by most cultures in the world as a symbol of the Divine or the carrier of the soul to and from the heavens and the other world beyond. The bird is a messenger in-between our earthly life and the transcendental one.
