Margaret A. W. Ingram

Artist, writer, and retired educator, Margaret Ingram grew up in the southeast and is currently living in Rome, Georgia. She earned an undergraduate degree in Art Education and Elementary Education from Berry College, a master�s degree in Art Education from the University of Georgia at Athens, and a master's degree in School Counseling from West Georgia College.

She taught art in Floyd County Schools for twenty year and at Shorter College as an adjunct instructor of art over a period of ten years. During that time she was a member of the Georgia Art Education Association and District President for The Georgia School Art Symposium.

Since retirement, Margaret maintains her membership in Rome Art Coterie, previously Coterie d'Art, in which she has served as President, Treasurer and Newsletter Editor and Co-webmaster. At present she is Past-President.

Mrs. Ingram�s work, often a reflection of her travels throughout the U.S. and abroad, has been shown at Shorter College, Oak Hill Museum, Chieftain Museum, Sara Hightower Library, Jasper Marble Exhibit, Rome Area Council for the Arts Gallery and in numerous traveling shows in Floyd County Schools. Her media of choice are watercolor, graphite pencil and screen-printing. She recently completed illustrations for a children's book titled "Land of the Giddiwonks" written by her husband, Richard.

In other artistic areas, she has served as Program Chairperson for Rome Area Writers. In the area of writing, she has short stories and poetry published in four of the organization�s annual Lavender Mountain Anthology, and recently completed a manuscript for a children�s book.

Other organizations in which she holds membership are The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Southern Breeze Writers, Southeastern Writers Association, Georgia Watercolor Society, Rome Art Coterie and Rome Area Council for the Arts.

She has four grown children and nine grandchildren and enjoy spending time with them every chance possible.
